4 Types of Drainage Solutions for Homeowners

Water is powerful! It can flood a home, damage a foundation, ruin a yard or landscaping, and create unsightly and unhealthy mold. At Shrock Excavating, we can assist you in your yard or driveway drainage complications to prevent these unfortunate events.

There are 4 types of drainage solutions that can be installed on your property to counter your drainage issues. These drains can be used solely for the problem or in combination with one another.

Channel Drains

The purpose of a channel drain is to redirect water. Many people with inground pools use channel drains because of excess water overflowing from the pool. Installed in concrete, these drains protect water from pooling, damaging your driveway and moving toward your home and garage.

Dry Wells

These structures are underground tanks that hold up to 50 gallons of water to collect and keep it from pooling in your yard and near your home where damage can occur. Dry Wells are made with small holes to allow water to slowly and naturally seep out of the well and back into the soil underground.

Yard Drains

Yard drains, also called catch basins, are holding tanks for water that is redirected from excess water flow on your property to a pipe angled away from your home. Water is funneled through the drain and out through the pipe to prevent water damage to your home or garage.

French Drains

These drain solutions are installed by digging a ditch and filling it with geotextile fabric, gravel, a PVC type pipe and dirt. They also redirect water and prevent it from creating puddles on your property which creates additional problems.
